Auckland, New Zealand - February 2008

We finished our trip to New Zealand in Auckland, a city that reminds me a lot of Vancouver. It is similar in size, it's on the water, and it's very multicultural.

There was a big outdoor concert in the park the night after we got there. It was called “The Starlight Symphony”. Kiri Te Kanawa was a special guest – she was raised in Auckland and part Maori. She was simply amazing! Then a grand finale of fireworks and laser show. Fantastic!

One day, we took a ferry ride to a nearby volcanic island that we could see from our hotel room. It was a beautiful day and we hiked up to the top for an incredible view.
